So, for our UNICODE migration, we start a new development system with AIX 7.2 and hope AIX 7.2 is validated until May 2016 (the time, we have to migrate our production system).

Many thanks,

Achim

Hi,

One of the best ways is to use IBM Power HA solution if you have AIX servers. Using Power HA you are going to have  a shared sapmnt/SID among 3 nodes.  Also if you have Oracle RAC you can use ASM to share sapmnt/SID as a solution for high availability.

Starting Startup Agent sapstartsrv FAIL: Timeout issue

Hi Gurus,

i searched at SCN for solution but no of them works for me.

I installed a new Diagnostics Agent for our J2EE. The J2EE works fine.

But the SMDA does not start. We tried to start without vhost name, with vhost name and with instance. But nothing works.

Zwischenablage02.jpg

The log file gives no hints.

Zwischenablage04.jpg

I checked the permissions for all logs in /tmp also work dir.

I checked ulimit and hosts. But all is fine.

Has someone a suggestion, anymore?

Hello Chris,

I might've seen this very same issue a few days ago...

1. Isn't there a sapstartsrv already running for instance 98? Please run "ps -ef | grep sapstartsrv | grep 98".

2. What is the permission for "/tmp/.sapstartsrv98_sapstartsrv.log"?

3. If there is no sapstartsrv running, try to start it with command "sapcontrol -nr 98 -function StartService <SID>"

4. What are the permissions for "sapstartsrv.log" from the work folder?

Cheers,
Ian Segóbio.

Hello again,

Ok there was no process running at first but what happened after you run the "StartService" command? Did it start?

If not, please delete the file "/tmp/.sapstartsrv98_sapstartsrv.log", temporarily change your shell from "Csh" to "Ksh" and then try to use the same command to start the service.

Cheers,

Ian.

Re: Application check script for HA

Hello there Bharath,

You can use the return for sapcontrol web methods:

---------------------------
sapcontrol -nr <instance number> -function GetSystemInstanceList

---------------------------

OR

---------------------------

sapcontrol -nr <instance number> -function GetProcessList
---------------------------

And check whether "GREEN" is part of the response. The first one will return one line per instance while the latter will return the status of all services for the local instance.

If they all are green then the instance is up and running.

Ian Segóbio.

We Ran "SETUP.SH" System Started checking " CHECK PREREQUISITES" Getting Error: FAILED: Operating System Patch Level (Critical) Info: (CheckPatchLevelFailReason) (All Others Succeeded) I have been contacting many experts but they are stating AIX is on correct version but no luck.. Can you assist  me or reply me on this.. Will Appreciate your great assistance..

In PAM if the AIX 7.2 is not listed for the NW 7.4 and DB2 then its not supported yet. I think the AIX 7.2 is released in Oct 2015. I would suggest to open an OSS message with SAP if you want to know when SAP is planning to release support for AIX 7.2.

^^ is this a prerequisite? Usually SAP systems are installed with ROOT...

Did you try to install BO 4.1 anyway despite SAPINST giving error?
